THE ALTERNATIVE PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM:

Fellowtravellers' alternative public transport system offers an environmentally-friendly, economical and reliable choice to the stresses and strains of traditional public transport and a realistic option to going by car.   It is a professional, local, and responsive system which places the needs of the traveller firmly at its heart.

By taking advantage of the data-processing power of new technologies we have created a system design that:

  • Enables bus routes to respond to individual passenger requirements  rather than forcing passengers to adapt their journeys to existing available bus routes.
  • Provides a simple door-to-door service instead of multiple changes to get to a destination.
  • Guarantees a seat on any journey facilitated instead of 'standing room only'.
  • Enables bus routes to be provided by small local businesses, sole traders, and social enterprises, as well as large public transport operators, creating healthy competition and a far better customer-care approach.
  • Allows only registered users to travel, improving safety.

The technical name for this sort of transport is 'Demand Responsive Public Transport' - and as we're totally committed to providing a system that is built around the needs of the service-user we would like to take the opportunity during the development process to ensure that we are going in the right direction.

FELLOWTRAVELLERS' AIM:

Our aim is simple; it is to promote collective action as the best remedy for today's social and environmental problems.

FELLOWTRAVELLERS' OBJECTIVES:
  1. To grow an online community of travellers and build the Fellowtravellers' alternative public transport system:- a set of online tools which will enable travellers to join together to form bus and minibus routes that can be delivered professionally by small local businesses and social enterprises.
  2. To create the Fellowtravellers' Foundation:- a fund to support social, welfare, educational and environmental initiatives and projects.
